Frequently Asked Questions

Here’s a breakdown of the questions I get asked most often. Hopefully you’ll find the answer you’re looking for here – but if you’re still not sure, just drop me a message through my contact form.

Before Booking

How do we book you?

It’s easy.

  1. Fill out my contact form.

  2. I’ll reply by email.

  3. If you’d like to go ahead, it’s a £250 booking fee to secure the date.

  4. I’ll send you a short agreement to sign – once that’s done, you’re officially booked in.

From there:

6 weeks before: We’ll arrange a video call to finalise timings and details.

What’s the deposit and when is the balance due?

Booking fee: £250 (paid when booking)
Balance: Due no later than 1 month before your wedding date.

I hate being in front of cameras, why would I have a video?

SO DO I! I’m not sure there’s many people in the world who like being filmed or photographed! Theres a few things I say to people who dislike cameras ‘in their face’…

  1. I am not an ‘in your face’ videographer. I simply document from afar.

  2. There’s no difference between being photographed and videoed - except for maybe a tiny microphone clipped onto you for your speech.

  3. Believe it or not your wedding day isn’t just about you! It’s about your guests, your venue, the outfits, the flowers - everything! Your films will not be 10 whole minutes worth of just you. It will capture natural emotions and memories of you as a couple and everything else happening on your day.

  4. I don’t ask you to do anything on your day other than enjoy yourself (and maybe go slow walking down the aisle!) so you often don’t even realise that I’m there. So many of our reviews comment on how I’m ‘more like a guest’ and ‘we barley realised you were there!’

Why should we hire a videographer?

Of course, I’m a little biased – but I honestly believe that having your wedding day filmed will be one of the best decisions you make. It’s a lifetime investment. The people who mean the most to you, their voices, their laughter, their reactions – all preserved forever. You’ll be able to relive the happiest day of your life not just with your new husband or wife, but with friends, family, and even future generations. It’s a priceless family heirloom.

Once the day is over, you’re left with three things: your memories, your photos, and your videos.

I hear from couples who consider asking a friend or family member to film on a phone or GoPro to save money. The problem is, it puts pressure on them, means they can’t truly enjoy the day with you, and often results in footage that’s low quality or staged rather than natural. A dedicated videographer with professional equipment will always capture your wedding more beautifully and unobtrusively than a guest ever could.

I keep my pricing realistic because this is my passion alongside my full-time job. That means you get professional filming and editing – without the £2,000–£3,000 price tag you might have seen elsewhere.

I invest heavily in high-quality professional video and audio gear, so your films look and sound incredible. Once the big day is done, I put just as much care into the edit – often working solidly for over a week to create films you’ll treasure.

Do you offer a discount for shorter or twilight weddings?

No – I keep things simple with one clear flat rate. Whether your day starts early or late, I still film all the key moments from prep into the evening.

The Videos

What videos do we get as part of your package?

You’ll receive 4+ videos in total:

  • Highlight Film – 4+ minutes

  • Full Ceremony Edit – the complete ceremony with professional audio

  • Full Speeches Edit – every speech in full

  • Original Clip Edits – all the usable clips from the day, edited and put together.

    This is broken down into multiple videos so you can watch back each part of the day. This is usually broken down into;

  • Morning Prep

  • Pre Ceremony

  • Post Ceremony

  • Portraits and Reception

  • Evening Celebrations

What is the Original Clip Edit?

This isn’t a stylised highlight film – it’s a full, chronological record of your day, edited and colour graded, showing all the usable clips I capture. You’ll see more of the morning prep, extra moments before and after the ceremony, portraits, guests, cake cutting, mingling, and dancing. If you want the fullest record of your day alongside your polished highlight reel, this is the edit for you.

This is delivered in multiple videos, for each part of the day, for example, morning prep, pre ceremony, post ceremony, reception etc.

What’s the Highlight Film?

A 4+ minute film telling the story of your day – from morning prep to evening celebrations – with music that fits the mood and short snippets of vows and speeches woven in.

Do you use a drone?

Yes – if weather, location, and permissions allow. I’ll always try to get aerial shots of your venue and surroundings. If I can’t fly on the day, I’ll focus on extra ground coverage instead.

Travel

Do you travel outside Derbyshire?

Yes – I film weddings all over the UK and beyond.

Do you charge for travel and accommodation?

There is no extra for travel within East Midlands. However, if your wedding is more than 2 hours away, I usually require overnight accommodation to make sure I’m fresh and able to film the whole day without rushing off.

On the Big Day

When will you arrive?

I normally arrive about 2 hours before the ceremony – plenty of time to capture the morning prep and details.

Do we need to provide you with a meal?

Not required, but much appreciated. If no meal is provided, I may need to pop out for food, which could mean I’m away for a short while.

Can you film both of us getting ready?

Most of the time there are two of us, myself and Becky, so in that case, yes, we usually can if timings and locations permit us to. However, this isn’t always the case; sometimes it’s just me. But this will be communicated before your big day. So if it’s just me filming, I can only cover both preparations if they’re in the same location or within about ten minutes’ drive.

When will you leave?

I usually stay until around 30 minutes after the first dance – enough time to capture plenty of fun evening shots and the atmosphere of the party, without filming too many late-night antics you might not want on camera.

After the Wedding

Do you back up the footage?

Yes – I back up everything to multiple hard drives and the cloud immediately after your wedding.

Can we choose our own music?

Because of copyright laws, I can’t use commercial music – but I have access to a huge library of licensed tracks that perfectly fit your day.

Will we get every single shot?

You’ll get all the best moments. Some clips won’t make it into the edits if they’re not usable, but the Original Clip Edit gives you a full-length video of all the good raw footage.

How long until we get our videos?

Usually within 8–12 weeks, depending on the season and editing queue.

How do we receive our videos?

You’ll receive them via an online platform called Gallerio.

Can we make our own copies?

Yes – all videos are MP4 files, so you can back them up, share them, and watch them anywhere.
